People often ask me,
"What inspired you to start Extraordinary?"

It’s a question that takes me back to my roots, to those early days of DJing and discovering my passion for creating unforgettable experiences. It’s a story of hard work, dedication, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. But most importantly, it’s a story about the power of believing in something and having the courage to make it a reality.

Early Influences

My DJ journey started in a pretty unexpected way. It was the end of high school, and I honestly had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. A best friend of mine was DJing for a local company, and one day he just turned to me and said, ‘Hey man, you have pretty good taste in music, ever thought about being a DJ?’ I’d gone to a few events with him and was definitely intrigued.

The Spark

Funny thing is, I actually had a bit of a head start. Back in middle school, I used to tag along with the father of a friend of mine to events he DJed. So, I guess you could say the seed was planted way back then!

Anyway, I took my friend up on the offer and started DJing for that same company. After a few years, I headed down to Florida to study recording engineering at Full Sail University. That’s where I really learned the ropes. I met a group of guys who were all professional DJs, and they became my mentors, showing me how to truly mix and perform.

When I graduated and came back home, I was determined to perfect my craft. For the next 14 years, I DJed over 1,000 events – everything from clubs and bars to weddings, proms, and mitzvahs. It was an incredible experience. Every event was different – new people, new venues, new vibes. I loved the challenge of creating a unique musical journey for each crowd, building energy, and making sure everyone had an amazing time. It taught me that DJing is an art form, a way to connect with people and create lasting memories

Honing My Craft

Full Sail was honestly one of the best experiences of my life! I met so many amazing people and learned so much from all the classes and instructors. It was a total immersion in the world of audio. I learned everything from the science behind sound to how songs are structured. We got to actually record bands, mix tracks, and then master them – the whole nine yards.

Another really cool part of the program was focused on audio post-production. We learned how to record foley (those sound effects they add to movies), ADR for vocals, and even how to mix in a surround sound environment. Our final project was redoing the audio for a trailer for Terminator: Salvation – it was such a blast, and seeing the final product was incredibly rewarding.

Of course, I also learned how to be a live sound engineer. That meant mastering everything from mixing front of house and monitors to understanding how speakers and amplifiers work. The goal was to learn how to get a great sound, whether you’re in a small room or a massive outdoor venue. That part of my education has definitely been the most relevant to what I do now at Extraordinary, but honestly, it all played a part in getting me to where I am today.

The Birth of Extraordinary

I started Extraordinary because I was tired of seeing inconsistent service quality, outdated equipment, and a general lack of personalized attention to clients. Many companies seemed to prioritize booking events over building relationships and exceeding expectations. I knew we could do better by focusing on the details that truly elevate an event – innovative design, cutting-edge technology, and talented entertainers who know how to connect with a crowd. To change that, I developed a system for maintaining top-notch equipment, implemented rigorous crew training programs with an emphasis on client communication, and created a culture of excellence at every level of the company. This commitment to meticulous attention to detail and a strong team culture has fueled extraordinary growth, taking us from approximately 80 events in our first year to around 2,000 annually just 8 years later.

At Extraordinary, we offer a comprehensive range of services to bring your vision to life. Our team of expert designers can transform any venue with stunning lighting, décor, and floral arrangements. We provide state-of-the-art audio-visual production to ensure flawless execution. And our roster of talented entertainers – from DJs and MCs to musicians and dancers – will keep your guests engaged and entertained all night long.

The Future

My mission is to make Extraordinary a nationwide brand, known for delivering the absolute best in event entertainment, production, and design. We’re currently working on plans to expand into new markets, which is incredibly exciting. That means opening new offices, growing our team, and even adding more services to what we offer. I can’t wait to see what the future holds and to bring the Extraordinary experience to even more people.
